«Let’s call it a day» is a friendly and informal way to say “Let’s stop working for now” or “Let’s finish here.”

Hi Daniel, that’s a good try however, we can’t say `let’s call it a day that dinner’. We use the expression when we want to stop doing something we are already doing. What you wanted to say is ´let’s call off the dinner’ which would mean cancel the dinner. :-)
